Sterilization technician will be responsible for the following duties: •Arrive to work at 8am daily. •Start up autoclave and ultrasonic machines. •Fill basins with disinfectant soaps to soak instruments. •Maintain dirty and sterile sections of sterilization room. •Inform head Dental Assistant when sterilization products need to be ordered. •Follow policy on sterilization instrument protocol. •Responsible for keeping lab jackets washed and hung up in closet. •Keep a log on the spore test results. Run a spore test weekly according to protocol. •Run a biological indicator strip in each autoclave load. •Place sterilized instruments in appropriate drawers. •Maintain cleanliness of sterilization room. •Volunteer to help out in other clinical areas when available to do so. •Review personnel policy as needed and follow all areas of policy. •Be sure to take direction form Head Dental Assistant. •Keep current on procedure to clean dental hand pieces and keep them working correctly. •Responsible for maintaining sharps containers and proper disposal. •Responsible for keeping laboratory clean and orderly with the help of the Dental Assistants. •Responsible for coordinating Bio-medical pick-up. •Performs other duties as assigned. Special Skills Required: On the job training and viewing OSHA films.
